TO “KNOW GOD” AND TO BE “KNOWN OF GOD” by Aleele Paago (Deep Words Devotional)

Pro 25:2  It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.

Who has the responsibility of developing the knowledge? Who bears the responsibility of discovering the truth about himself/herself? The responsibility lies with the lamb to know its true position and act in consonance with that.

The most important hidden thing is the knowledge of who you are. Your parents have no clue, your pastor has no clue, your peers have no clue, your teachers or bosses have no clue of who you are and what you are capable of. You too have no idea of who you are. It is an honour to unveil that which God has concealed in you – your God-destiny.

Paul makes a baffling remark in Gal 4:9

But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of GOD…

To “Know God” and to be “known of God” do they mean the same thing? To be “known of God” means the Shepherd knows you, he has you enlisted in his fold. You are known to Him. To “know God” on the other hand is to realize the full understanding of the place of the sheep, that the Shepherd is his own. So because Paul is disappointed by the Galatian church, he downgrades their knowledge quotient. Paul is saying “I thought you have fully realized your position but maybe you haven’t yet, you are back at the elementary level.”

The ultimate desire really is to know yourself the way God knows you. For the Shepherd himself desires that you come to this knowledge.

HOW DOES GOD KNOW YOU?

He knows your past, knows your present and knows your future. He knows your fault lines. He knows your weaknesses. He knows your fears. And he loves you. He knows your capabilities. He knows your abilities. He knows your destiny and he wishes that you know also.

For now we are looking in a mirror that gives only a dim (blurred) reflection [of reality as in a riddle or enigma], but then [when perfection comes] we shall see in reality and face to face! Now I know in part (imperfectly), but then I shall know and understand  fully and clearly, even in the same manner as I have been fully and clearly known and understood [by God]. 1 Cor 13:12 AMP

Therefore, to know that the Shepherd is yours is to know who you are in the Shepherd. Check the entire bible, everyone God used for some great thing felt unqualified because they didn’t have a clear picture of who they are in God. Their lives begin to unfold and reveal what God already has known and prepared for them. That is exactly what Proverbs 25:2 means.

Somehow the sheep must find a way to know itself the way the shepherd knows it.
Do you think you have fully discovered your God-potential? Think about it today.
