PRECIOUS SEEDS 004 By Godwin ‘Captain’ Kalu

Are you in dire need of an idea? Be grateful for the fact that you have a working brain that can think.

Are you getting worried that today is getting bitter than better?  Be grateful that you still have an opportunity to change something.

Are your goals failing? Be grateful for who you have become in the process of trying to reach those goals.

Are your doors seemingly getting shut? Be grateful that you have a door that can threaten the devil.

Are you hungry and hopeless? Thank God that you have a working appetite. Many are surrounded by food but lacking appetite.

What are you grateful for?

Notice the blessings right around you. Don’t wait to be grateful when the job or child or car or accommodation comes. Agree to be grateful while the future you desire is on the way.

Your life is an ultimate blessing. Some have money but are dead. Others have wealth but are mentally unstable. Many have mansions but lack peace to live in them. Be grateful that you are alive. But grateful that you are not where you used to be. Be grateful that you stopped a bad habit. Be grateful that your eyes can see. Be grateful that two tablets of paracetamol can handle your headache. Be grateful that you had a safe journey the last time you travelled. Be grateful that you are mentally stable. Be grateful that you can be creative. Be grateful that you have one person who believes in you. I sincerely believe in you.

#HappyNEWmonth!
May God give you something to remember.

GREEN PASTURES & TENDER HOMES By Aleele Paago

Psa 23:2  He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
“He maketh me to lie down…

This little lamb finds himself lying in the green pastures. Everything is provided for. That is why he boldly declares that he lacks or wants nothing. The newborn Christian comes to this realization sooner or later that God has all it takes to handle all his challenges. He realizes that there is provision for every vision.
This pampered lamb cannot differentiate between the poisonous herbs and the nutritious greens. It does not see the slithering snakes or dangerous caterpillars. It is not that they are absent, it is simply that the shepherd has taken care of these without the knowledge of the lamb.
Where I lie is the shepherd’s responsibility. He is the one that selects the spot of my comfort. He takes me to the tender grass.

What are “Green Pastures”? From the Hebrew, “Green Pastures” in this psalm could also be interpreted “tender home”  or “Pleasant Place”. The first thing God does in the life of a new sheep is to lead it to a family, place it somewhere it can be nourished and catered for – in a pasture with other sheep.

You often hear people say the grass is greener on the other side. Green is taken to indicate how fertile, well prepared and watered the pasture is. But is that the complete intent of the shepherd? The pasture here in a sense refers to the church – the local assembly. Are some churches “greener” than others?
Why does God leave some of his children in pastures that are not green in any way? Why does God  lead some Churches and sheep in very hostile environments; pastures that are riddled with snakes and wolves? Is it fair to the sheep that finds itself in the not so green local pasture?

These questions are troubling and are of serious concern to every sheep. What should a sheep do when he sees a pasture that is greener than where it is? The answer lies in the first verse of the psalm. Did the shepherd lead you here to this not so green pasture or did you lead yourself? Is he the person making you lie down or you are forcing yourself to lie there because you love the other sheep on that pasture better than where the shepherd took you or wants to take you?

We ought to be careful what we call “green” pasture. Lot looked at the green vegetation and made a choice and it landed him in serious trouble.

Activity: Recall how you joined the pasture where you are now. Recall how God directed you there. Are there times you think your pasture could have been better? How are you helping the other sheep in your pasture to feel more at home? Pray for your shepherd in your local pasture, remember he too is a sheep in the Lord’s fold.
